The Tricorn Building

All known gigs at the Tricorn Centre on the first floor, in the Tricorn Club opened in the 1960's,
later known as Gabriellas, Granny's, Cromat and Basins Dance Hall


The Tricorn Centre in Portsmouth was designed in 1963 and opened in 1966. The architect of the Tricorn Centre was Rodney Gordon.
New years eve 1967 The newly-opened Tricorn had cabaret with Dickie Valentine, while Fred & Winnie Noakes were still offering Old Time Dancing.

Kippington Lodge (including Nick Lowe & Brinsley Schwarz) played there with DJ Pete Cross
November 1968 opened with Paper and Lace at the Tricorn Club
December 1968 The Tricorn Club ran record sessions including lunchtimes with DJ Pete Cross, while the resident group Mood Indigo entertained those who preferred cabaret.

Cromat

This was a Tuesday eveing club run by Peter Cross and Ricky Martin, bringing in some unual acts.
CROMAT opened on;-
Tuesday Jan 19th with Argent playing live and the DJ that week was Jeff Dexter the IOW Festival/London 'Underground' man, and six bob to get in, a Cromat night

John Peel appeared on Tuesday February 16th and Tuesday 23rd with guest bands, two Cromat nights.
The Cromat Club ran for a couple of years and simply faded.

Amongst the acts who appeared at Cromat were Uriah Heep, Paul Rogers, Paul Kossoff, Rhada Krista Temple, Focus, Barclay James Harvest, Vivian Stanshall, Roger Ruskin Spear and his Kanetic Wardrobe, Gentle Giant, Da Da, Vinegar Joe (with Robert Palmer and Elkie Brooks, Joe Brown`s Home Brew, Edgar Broughton Band, Pretty Things, Ginger Bakers Afro Band, Graham Bond, Alex Harvey Band.

Basins

Run by Chris Abbott and Jim Lawrence.
Its first incarnation in 1985 was in Palmerston Road Southsea at the Some Place Else Club before they moved to Basins at Kimbells then the Tricorn from 1986.

Many band prices also included % deals, beer riders etc
