The Pomme D'or
In the sixties a new clientele began to visit the Golden Apple Club in what was once Clifton Terrace. They replaced the old membership that had been mainly made tip of Service personnel.

Pete Maxwell was a regular DJ in the Palmerston Road Pomme D'or, from 1977-1980. Ray & Doreen Prowting owned it then.
George East was the first official DJ at the old Pom for Ted Peacock and his wife. Before that, members used to stroll over and put a record on the Dansette when the music stopped. The Peacocks always played The Party's Over when it was closing time. The membership was very posh.
Doreen and Helen Evans who helped behind the bar...?
Run by Majors Mum and Dad, Majors Mum said that she named him Major so that he would always stand out in busines.
HARD-WORKING Tony Winfield took over The Raven with his mum Joyce 21 years ago. She passed away five years ago at the age of 82. The pair had previously worked together at The Pomme D’Or, a former nightclub in the basement of The Lord Palmerston, in Palmerston Road, Southsea. They were there for about three years before leaving and taking over The Raven.
If it seems as if Geoff Peters has been around forever, it is probably because he has. Geoff first appeared on the local music scene in 1965 with his first band 'the Brothers Blue', and they soon secured a monthly residency at the old Pomme D'or Club in Southsea and this ran for 2 years. In 1967 the band broke up.
