About each character:-

DAVE SULLIVAN,

fought in the first world war with Norm Baker and Jack Fletcher, Dave was married to Grace, they had three sons and one daughter, and adopted another son Geoffery. Dave later joined the Army during the second world war, and did a desk job, and was made a Captain. On a plane trip, it crashed and Dave saw just alittle action.

GRACE SULLIVAN,

wife of Dave, she was killed in a German bombing raid whilst in London nursing her son John.

HARRY SULLIVAN,

brother to Dave, his first wife Rose died by falling into a river and drowning. Harry and Rose ran the shop for a while then< he started the scrap yard, he later took on Jim Sullivan. Jim eventually bought the Camberwell business from Harry. He later remarried Lou who lodged with Ida Jessop, later Lou left Harry after being sent away with the Army. Harry now lives in Queensland, he has been in prison for 'receiving stolen goods'??

JOHN SULLIVAN,

first son to Dave & Grace. A pacifist married Anna Kauffmann, the daughter of German Jew immigrants Hans and Lotte, who ran the Grocery store. When war broke her parents were interned and later died leaving Anna to run the shop, she later died. John then had Harry and Rose live in and run the shop for him. He became a medic in the Army and was sent Europe, the ship was sank by Germans. He was saved by partizans, posibly Yugoslavs, who found him useful as medic He married one of them, was injured and handed over to the British in London. After his mother's death, he rturned briefly to Australia and then decided to return to his wife in Israel. Was 22 years old on 12th October 1941.

TOM SULLIVAN,

second son to Dave & Grace, was entrusted to Norm Baker for the 2nd World War and earned an outstanding war record, injured by hand-grenade, long hospital stay. Married Patty Spencer, an American serving in the US forces, they met in London whilst Tom & Norm Baker were there during the war on special service. They are later divorced and Patty returns to America. Is now studying to become a lawyer.
Patty Spencer wife to Tom. Her father is a wealthy American, and runs a plastics company.

TERRY SULLIVAN,

Wanted to join the RAF, but failed due to inner ear trouble. He then joined the Army and became a good sniper. Later he joined Tom and Norm to break into Changi POW camp. There they met ??? Johnson, brother of Geoff, who died as they escaped, and Tom promised to look after his young orphan brother.
Terry met and married Kitty's friend Caroline, and was later invalided out of the Army. At present serving a Jail sentence for robbery, he married Caroline(two different actresses, ???? and Geneveive Picot)

KITTY SULLIVAN,

sometimes called 'Kitten' only daughter of Dave & Grace, she married Robbie McGovern who later committed suicide. They had a daughter Gracie.

BEN DAWSON,

was a married man who deceived Kitty into thinking he was free. She left home to join him in Sydney and hgad a nasty shock when she found out the truth.

GEOFFERY 'SULLIVAN' JOHNSON,

adopted son of Dave & Grace, his brother Jacko was killed in the war.

BERT DUGGAN,

was a friend of Tom, who made Lil pregnant. He married her and then escaped to the Army. Was with Tom and Norm in Crete, after they escaped capture he trod on a land mine, leaving a young widow and son Albert, who had been lodging with Ida Jessop, Lil and Albert then went home.

MARY SULLIVAN,

now a widow has two sons, James and Steven & a daughter Maureen.
Mary Sullivan runs the grocery shop, The Universal Store, owned by Alice where she lives with husband Jim and brother Steve.

JAMES SULLIVAN,

a former soldier, and former scrap yard dealer, now run a plasics company partly owned by Patty Spencer's father. He married Alice Watkins, the daughter of Maggie Baker by her previous marriage.

STEVE SULLIVAN,

works as a sign writer, his girl friend is Juliana Sleven.

MAUREEN SULLIVAN,

worked in the local radio station, married Horace 'orible' Brown.

ALICE SULLIVAN,

nee Watkins, a long lost illegitimate daughter of Maggie Baker. When her adopted parents, the Morgans, died she went looking for her real mother. Alice was previously married to Michael Watkins, nephew of Ida Jessop who was lodging with her, and son of her hated sister. Later she bought the Grocery shop with money left to her by her 'parents', she also bought a share of the Great Southern onwed by her real mother. Michael was killed in a motoring accident whislt driving with the 'other woman' Alice later married James Sullivan and she is now expecting their first baby. She has a history of miss-carriages.

IDA PIKE,

who lives next door to Dave Sullivan, was originally married to Archie Jessop, who was dead as the series began. She later marries Arthur Pike. She is the local street gossip.

ARTHUR PIKE,

Moved out to Australia from London. He was the Landlord to Tom Sullivan & Norm Baker whilst they were lodging in England during the war. The Pikes live next door and have Leslie Maddern anbd Ernest O'Keefe as lodgers.

NORM BAKER,

a former Army Captain and special service agent with Tom Sullivan, while in wartime Greece he married a Greek woman called Melina who was later shot by a German fireing squad. He later marries Maggie, and is now foreman at Spencer Sullivan Plastics. He is a part time boxing trainer, and interested in youth work.

MAGGIE BAKER,

Norm's wife is part owner, with her daughter Alice, of the local Hotel/Pub 'The Great Southern'

HORACE 'ORIBLE' BROWN,

Ernest 'erger' O'Keefe, Leslie 'Magpie' Maddern. All three served under Norm Baker during the war. After demob Brown takes over Jim Sullivan's scrap yard dealership.

LESLIE 'MAGPIE' MADDERN,

plays football for the local team, but discontinues because of a motoring accident.

O'KEEFE,

and Maddern attempt to run a farm but find the task too much. O'Keefe, formerly a foreman at Spencer Sullivan Plastics, is now the representative for the machine workers union.

JULIANNA SLEVEN,

Norm & Maggie's adopted daughter is Dutch and an orphan, she was given a coin by Carla who Norm and Tom met when they were spying in Holland Carla died and Julianna took on her identity when she found out that Norm was looking for her.

JACK FLETCHER,

is the barman at 'The Great Southern' is a bookie, and divorced.

PATRICK SULLIVAN,

is Dave Sullivan's father, recently widowed he has come to live at 7 Gordon Street, Camberwell, Melbourne, with his son.

MICHAEL WATKINS,

a journalist and former husband of Alice, was unfaithfull and later killed in a motoring accident, his girlfriend escaped injury.

MRS. WATKINS,

was Michael's mother and is rarely seen.
The actress playing Terry's wife changed to Geneveive Picot in around 1987.

RAY KIRK,

A former newsreel cameraman and Radio anouncer at th local radio station '3PA' and one time boyfriend of Maureen Sullivan. He was also engaged to Kitty. He later left after being responsible for a car accident in which Magpie was badly injured.

BILLY BRINKLY,

is a game show host at 3PA Radio where Maureen works.

DET. SGT. SHEARER,

is the policeman that arrested Terry before he was jailed.

HORACE & MAUREEN BROWN(nee Sullivan),

now live in the garage in the garden of 7 Gordon Street, Camberwell. She previously had a romance with Magpie.

MR. JARVIS,

is a friend of Kitty's, a hermit and is wrongly thought to have murdered his wife.

SUE MARRIOTT,

nursing sister who fall for John Sullivan.

SAM KENDALL,

boyfriend of Sue Marriott.

SQUIZZY,

was one of Norm Baker's pals when they came back from war.
