Peter Jenkins Raised in Gosport from 1940.
"The Classics" were made up from Pete Jenkins Vocals, Tony Ransley Drums Pete O'flaherty Bass, and Ian Duck Lead Guitar.
Little Len Woods was rhythm guitar, from 1961 till 1964
Peter was before and with Paul Spooner, when Don Bonsworth left I got Paul in he was playing with the Tennesee Studs.
He knew Ian Duck and he got me into the band after an audition. around 1962 to 1964 was my time in two local bands.
They gigged for Tony Porter and Johnny Angel to mention a few.
Tony Ransley and Peter OFlaherty joined the Schulman Brothers in "Simon Dupree and the Big Sound"
Peter was with the Classics for maybe 18 months and then left and Joined The Everglades. It was Johnnie Vance and The Everglades, and they changed their name to The Brothers Scarlet later.
The Brothers Scarlet / Everglades were Peter Jenkins Vocals (me) Dave Diaper lead Guitar Burt Diaper, drums Harry Diaper.Rhythm Guitar and Derek Robson Bass around 1963 till 1964
In April 1964 Peter moved to the Cotswolds Near Stroud after Giging in local Pubs, with guitar. He did a summer season at "Pleasure Haven" Crantock, Near Newquay Cornwall, in 1971 Gigged with Jasper Carrot, Max Boyce, and many more working as Ben E. Franklin.
He moved back to Denmead 1978 Formed The Hampsher Hogs, with Mick Cramer Bass and Dave Houghton Drums (both are back with Joe Jackson ) plus Ex Pirate "Shaking all Over" Johnny Gordon also on bass. They worked all along the South Coast till 1986. The Hogs did Comedy songs and Pop Covers.
Peter then moved in 1986 to Mevagissey in Cornwall did three years performing his usual Vocal Guitar act.
they moved to FRANCE in 1989
His present band is a trio "Lemon Atlas" and Peter sings, plays lead guitar, Kristian Jenkins his son on Bass and lead (they alternate,) and Sara Carpentier , on Drums.
He is still giging with his two sons Kristian and Jason in Normandy France.
Peter's other claim to fame is a song he wrote, as Frankie Goes To Fratton Park, "We're On The Up" and "The Pompey Conga" with Dave Houghton drums Mike Cramer Bass. and Peter on uke and Vocals that was a 45 r.p.m. in either 1985 or 1986.
His Publishing Company is "P.J.Xanadu Music Publishing," M.C.P.S / P.R.S. Alliance. which he set it up in the 1980's, mainly for publishing his own songs.
