The Gee Dees were Mick Cooper, organist, and Mike 'Clump' King on drums. Origianally with guitarist Fred Illingworth, they got together as a backing group for Geoff Davis at the Honky Tonk Bar in about 1978. When the bar closed down Mick and Clump continued gigging as a duo called the Gee Dees, which were Geoff's' initials. In 1980 they played many local venues and then did three summer season on the South Parade Pier, 1981, 1982, and 1983. They played their last gig at Hove Town Hall on New years eve 1985.We've been called some names in our time!" |
