Dave Houghton

from Fareham previously with Smiling Hard, Jim Berry, and Joe Jackson.
Plays a Premier Genista acoustic kit and a Roland TD20 electronic kit. Presently in a local covers band called "Max Bona" and still works with Joe Jackson.

Graham Maby

Graham Maby was born 1952, Gosport and plays bass guitar. With Joe Jackson since his first album, palying on many of Joe's records and tours even with other bands.
In 1996, Maby joined They Might Be Giants recording and touring with them. From 1998 until 2002 with Natalie Merchant's band. Also with Marshall Crenshaw, Joan Baez, Freedy Johnston, Ian Hunter, Regina Spektor and Dar Williams.
He has produced several tracks on joe's 1992 album, Can You Fly. and is seen in the 1986 film "Peggy Sue Got Married" playing in the Marshall Crenshaw's band.

Julia Fordham

from Hayling Island Julia Fordham born 10 August 1962 singer-songwriter worked for Radio Victory and started in the early 1980s as a backing singer, under the name "Jules Fordham", for Mari Wilson and Kim Wilde, then late in 1980's sign her own recording contract. Fordham is now based in California.

Graham Stokes

Owner of Cone Head Records from Leigh Park born Graham Barry Stokes, 9 February 1958, Birmingham, West Midlands is music executive and musician. He grew up in Leigh Park, Hampshire, attending Wakeford Comprehensive known as Havant Academy. He spent his early life playing in various bands as a guitarist, before landing a job at Arista Records as a post boy in 1979.
He worked with bands such as The Beat and Secret Affair. He then 10 years working at some of London's biggest record labels helping Bananarama, Bobby Brown, Communards, Fine Young Cannibals, Kim Wilde and Run DMC with their careers. In 1989 ne began a recording career using the name Graham Stokes, then Graystoke and finally as lead guitarist with Broken Wings.

Roland Orzabal

from Leigh Park Roland Orzabal was born 22 August 1961 musician, songwriter and record producer. He co-founded Tears for Fears, with others and is the main songwriter and part vocalist, also successful as a produce. In 2014, Orzabal published his first novel.
Orzabal and Curt Smith while living in Bath, Somerset in the late-1970s, formed 'Graduate'. Orzabal and Smith went on to form Tears for Fears.

Steve Grainger

from Leigh Park Steve has played Sax on recordings by The Beach Boys, Culture Club, Deniece Williams, and Jimmy Witherspoon and many others. As well as live with Helen Terry, Jocelyn Brown, and Craig Douglas.
Featuered on solos onthe Culture Club hit such Time, It’s a Miracle and Black Money, and the Beach Boys’ Passing Friend. He is the soloist on Destiny, ITV’s Olympic theme. Subsequently on Jimmy Witherspoon’s album The Blues, the Whole Blues and Nothing but the Blues and more blues work with Steve Roux and the Brass Knuckles Blues Band.

Steve Harris

from Portsmouth Steve is a musician with the Archive group since 2001.
He is the guitarist and his furious riffs on songs like "Numb" or "System" are already known world wide.

Roger Hodgson

from Portsmouth Charles Roger Pomfret Hodgson born 21 March 1950 in Portsmouth, Hampshire musician and songwriter, the former co-frontman of Supertramp. Hodgson composer and singer of their many hits "Dreamer", "Give a Little Bit", "Breakfast in America", "Take the Long Way Home" and "It's Raining Again".
He left them in 1983 to pursue his own career, but after two albums he retired. In 1997 Hodgson returned to doing solo tours, and as of 2014 is still touring worldwide. He grew up in Oxford. Hodgson's first school band was him on guitar and Roy Hovey playing drums.
At age 19, Roger Hodgson made his first appearance in a recording studio as guitarist for People Like Us, a band he joined shortly after graduating from boarding school. Their single, "Duck Pond" b/w "Send Me No Flowers" was never released.
After People Like Us disbanded, Hodgson auditioned for Island Records, and joined "flower power" pop band Argosy, which also included Reginald Dwight (later known as Elton John), Caleb Quaye, and Nigel Olsson. Their only single, "Mr. Boyd" b/w "Imagine", and was two orchestrated pop pieces written by Hodgson and released in 1969 on the DJM.

Mick Jones

Mick has written many enduring songs and produced 10 multi-platinum albums with Foriegner. Is a Grammy and Golden Globe nominated songwriter, performer and producer and winner of the Ivor Novello songwriter award in 1998, In 1964 when he moved to Paris and palyed for French singer Sylvie Vartan and later for French rock icon, Johnny Hallyday.
He returned to England in 70’s and reformed Spooky Tooth with Gary Wright. He moved to New York City and, in 1976, formed Foreigner with fellow Brits Ian Mc Donald and Dennis Elliott, and Americans Lou Gramm, Alan Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi.

Richard Greentree and Steve Duffield

both from Portsmouth from the Beta Band formed in 1996 with musicians Steve Mason (vocals, guitar) and Gordon Anderson.they added Robin Jones drums, and John Maclean DJ, sampler, keyboards. their debut EP, Champion Versions, Steve Duffield was the original bassist but quit the band soon after recording Champion Versions. Richard Greentree bass, was added to their lineup.
Steve played in many bands based in the city over the years ...Magic Roundabout, Mild Mannered Janitors, Green Hornets. Currently playing bass with Steve Mason (Beta Band singer) - working on new LP.

Luke Michael Haines

born 7 October 1967 is an English musician, songwriter and author, who has recorded music under various names and with various bands, including The Auteurs, Baader Meinhof and Black Box Recorder.
He says he learned guitar in the red light district of Portsmouth and subsequently formally studied music at the London College of Music. He has fronted other acts including Baader Meinhof and Black Box Recorder.

Mick Feat

bass guitarist with Wanted circa 1970 then went really pro and certainly played with Van Morrison and did session work with various recording acts.
He joined Fastway (band) with Mick Feat, the band then recorded their debut album.

Nick Magnus - Steve Hackett Band

Born Emsworth. Attended Portsmouth Grammar School and Portsmouth Art College. Played with Steve Hackett (ex Genesis) and most notably on the successful album Spectral Mornings - also did session work and solo albums.

Sarah Jane Owen - BelleStars

Born in Portsmouth. Attended Manor Court School and Portsmouth Art College then moved to London to The Royal College of Art studying fashion and then teaching fashion.
First foray of note into the music scene was band called the Bodysnatchers in 1979 (a '2 Tone Ska' 7 piece all girl band) who had a minor hit with 'Lets Do Rock Steady'. The Bodysnatchers evolved into the Bellestars in 1981 - they had a number of hits with the best known being 'Sign of the Times' (UK No3). From mid 80s onward she did a couple of other music projects.
In 1988 four years after the Bellestars split, they had a US Hit with their 1982 Iko Iko song which was included in the soundtrack of the film Rainman.
She then went to live in Southern California lecturing fashion in LA . She has also adopted the name SunJay and, alongside her fashion lecturing, works as a native american healer and facilitator in her own PowWow Lodge Retreat near Los Angeles.

George William Lowen Coxhill

Lol Coxhill was Portsmouth born on 19 September 1932, He was a saxophonist and raconteur. He toured the America Air Force bases in the 1940's and in the 1960s joined with visiting American musicians and several other bands. He worked with Mike Oldfield, The Damned and Hugh Metcalfe. He died on 9 July 2012.

Joseph Reinagle

(1762-1825) He was a composer/musician born in Portsmouth, born to a trumpeter from Austria. He played cello at the Handel Commemoration in Westminster Abbey in 1784, comemorating the twentyfifth anniversary of the death of Handel. On his return from Ireland he received guidence from Haydn on composing most of which was music for violin and cello, particularly duets.

John Balsir Chatterton

(25 November 1804 – 9 April 1871) was a Portsmouth born harpist. He studied in London and became professor of Music at the Royal Academy in 1827 and harpist to Queen Victoria in 1842.

David Heneker

(31 March 1906-30 January 2001 (aged 94)) was the Southsea-born man who wrote the score for H. G. Wells' story Kipps wqhen it was turned into a stage musical in 1963. His first hit was There Goes My Dream in 1940. In the 1950's he became a lounge singer/pianist at the Embassy Club in London's Bond Street. Other work included Expresso Bongo and Irma La Douce (both 1958) also Charlie Girl (1965) and Jorrocks (1966).

Cab Kaye, also Quaye

(1921-2000), bandleader, entertainer, drummer, guitarist, pianist, songwriter and singer had an English mother and Gold Coast father. Although born in London he was brought up in Portsmouth. his real name was Augustus NiiLante Kwamlah Quaye, As a 14 year old he auditioned for bandleader Billy Cotton and became resident. In the 1940's and 50's he worked with Ronnie Scott and John Dankworth. In 1958 he appeared on the 6-5 Special TV program. He died in Amsterdam on 13 March 2000 from cancer. His son Caleb was one of the group called Hookfoot.

Amanda Holden

Born in St Mary's Hosital Portsmouth 16th Februarry 1971 but lived her young life in Bishops Waltham then moving to Bournemouth. Known mainly for her being a judge on Britains Got Talent. However she did appear in several stage musicals. 2004, nominated for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actress in the West End production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Then in the role of Princess Fiona in the original West End production of Shrek the Musical, from 6 May 2011. Then at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from 14 June 2011. In 2016, she starred in a West End revival of Stepping Out at the Vaudeville Theatre in March 2017.

Jacky Vincent

Jacky was lead guitarist/vocalist of the rock band Falling in Reverse and left in 2015. Currently he is guitarist with the power metal band Cry Venom. Vincent has one solo album released in 2013 titled "Star X Speed Story", with Shrapnel Records. He was born on January 23, 1989 in St Mary Hospital Portsmouth. His father Jon was a partner/owner of the Strings Guitar Centre shop in Elm Grove, Southsea.
