Upon opening in London on 11 November 1899 at the Lyric Theatre, the show originally starred Evie Greene, Willie Edouin and Ada Reeve Running for an astounding-for-the-time 455 performances, and closing in March 1901. Evie played Dolores the rightful heir to the island. |

Trial by Jury, as the Plaintif at the Lyric Theatre Shaftesbury Ave London.The testimonial benefit for William Rignold, on December 5th 1902, was a chance for London's theatre community to pay tribute. Highlight of the afternoon was a performance of Trial By Jury, at which Gilbert himself played the Associate. Others in the cast included Rutland Barrington, Charles Childerstone, C. Hayden Coffin, Evie Greene & Lionel Monckton. |
