The Southsea and Portsmouth Band Stand

There have been several bandstands in Southsea and Portsmouth over the years.
Probably the first was on South Parade Pier before and after the First World War

Then the band stand on the Pier became an outdoor concert venue

The next was probably in Victoria Park, again before and between the World Wars

Before and after the Second World War, there was a band stand at the southern end of Palmerston Road.
During the 1960's it became a skating and then skateboard park,

Today the badstand is on the edge of the Southsea Common next to the Castle.
Like many places in 2014, it was subject to flooding
