January 1st at South Parade Pier, Henry Hall and his Orchestra, on behalf of the Portsmouth Council of Boys Clubs.
Havant & Waterlooville Council decide to close their British restaurants where dance bands sometimes play.
Jimmy Harris and his Broadcasting band play nightly, Mon to Sat plus Wed and Sat matinees, at the Oddfellows Hall At the Savoy Ballroom, opposite the Criterion Gosport, Littlewoods staff present a dance to the Savoy Orchestra where there is dancing to this orchestra Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

At the Savoy, Harry Parry and his Sextet with Jean Bradbury plus Allan Young and his Organtones. also a British Amateur dance teams competition between Savoy Portsmouth and Regent Brighton. Portsmouth have won 6 of the last 7 matches.
